My favorite brands and the routine that helps mine last up to two weeks.
I love a fresh set of nails. Over the years, I have tried plenty of press-on and glue-on brands, along with just about as many ways to keep them on. Some sets look beautiful but cannot keep up with my everyday life. Others last a full two weeks and still look great.
For me, the best nails fit comfortably, feel sturdy, and look realistic on my hands. Doonails has earned my number-one spot, but each brand on this list has something I enjoy. Here is my countdown from number five to my favorite, plus the application habits that make a difference for me.
The prices below reflect what I usually spend. Prices and availability may vary, and these rankings are based on my own experience.
5. imPRESS
My usual price range: $9.99–$15
imPRESS was where I started when I first began wearing nails. I love the improved adhesive tabs, and if you are not especially hard on your hands, these may be a good fit for you. The selection makes it easy to find something fun, with holiday themes and plenty of shapes, sizes, and designs.
The imPRESS FX nails are some of my favorites. They feel a little thicker than the other styles I have tried, come in pretty marble colors, and wear well for me. I have also found the brand easy to pick up at stores such as Walmart, Target, and Walgreens.
My downside: Many of the styles feel thin, and they can crack or break when I am active. I usually get about a week of wear before one needs replacing.
4. Dashing Diva
My usual price range: $9.99–$15
Dashing Diva feels firmer than imPRESS to me. I like the harder feel of the nails, the great designs, and the variety of shapes. The bundle deals are another reason I enjoy shopping this brand.
I have found the best selection online, although I have spotted sets at T.J. Maxx and Ross. Those store finds are a nice bonus when I come across a design I love.
My downside: Shopping in person can be hit or miss. If I have a particular look in mind, I usually have more choices online.
3. Glamnetic
My usual price range: $15–$20
Glamnetic is one of my choices when I want a sturdier nail. The sets I have tried feel harder and more durable, which I appreciate when I am busy and using my hands all day. I also love the fun designs and variety of shapes.
I appreciate having glue and adhesive-tab options to choose from, depending on the set and how I want to wear it. I have found the brand online and in beauty stores, making it convenient to shop.
My downside: The fit can be a little narrow for my nails. I have to be particular about sizing, and the extra nails in the box do not always work for me.
2. CurvLife
My usual price range: $14–$18
CurvLife nails are hard as a rock! The sets I have worn have lasted a full two weeks without breaking. I love the fun, festive designs and the option to use tabs or glue when the set allows it.
The glue deserves its own mention. CurvLife makes the best nail glue I have personally used. The gel-like formula I use gives me a strong, secure hold, and it has become a favorite part of my nail routine—even when I am wearing another brand of nails.
My downside: My direct orders have sometimes taken a few weeks to arrive. I have found some styles on Amazon when I wanted a shorter wait, but the selection has been more limited. I also wish there were more shape and size options for certain designs.
My usual price: Around $22 per set
Doonails takes my number-one spot. I love these nails! They feel sturdy, have a beautiful glossy finish, and look the most realistic on my hands. With my application routine, I have gotten a full two weeks of wear without them coming off.
The sizing and shapes work especially well for me. I can get more than one set out of a box, which helps make the price worthwhile. My online orders have arrived pretty quickly, and the bundle deals and free-gift offers I have seen make it tempting to try another set.
I also like the possibility of wearing a set again when the product instructions allow it. Reuse depends on the adhesive and the condition of the nails after removal, so I check the directions for the set I am using.
My downside: I would love to see more designs. The selection I have shopped has been smaller than some of the other brands, but the fit, finish, and durability keep me coming back.
How I Get Mine to Last Up to Two Weeks
A good set of nails helps, but preparation, fit, and adhesive make a big difference in my wear time. CurvLife glue is my personal favorite, and I like having the matching remover ready before I apply a new set. Here is the routine that works for me, with the product directions guiding each step.
Start with clean dry nails. I wash my hands with mild soap and let my nails dry completely. I gently push back my cuticles and lightly buff only if the product directions call for it. Then I use the supplied prep pad or an alcohol wipe to remove surface oils and let my nails dry before applying adhesive.
Choose the fit before opening the glue. I size every nail first and lay them out in order. Each one should sit comfortably on my natural nail without overlapping my skin or cuticle. Taking a few extra minutes here makes application much easier.
Apply the adhesive carefully. For glue-on sets, I follow the adhesive directions and use a small amount, keeping it off my skin and the glossy top of the nail. Too much can overflow and spoil the finish. With tabs or pre-glued nails, I follow the directions for that particular set instead of assuming every product works the same way.
Position and press. I position the nail near the cuticle at a slight angle, then lower it into place and press firmly. I avoid sliding it around once it is positioned. I like to hold each nail for about 60 seconds, unless the product instructions specify a different technique or hold time.
Make it part of the bedtime routine. This is my favorite timing trick: I do my nails right before bed, after my last handwashing and the rest of my nighttime routine. That gives them several quiet hours without dishes, showers, or soaking. I still follow the adhesive’s directions for setting time and water exposure.
Take time with removal. When I am ready for a change, I use the removal method recommended for my adhesive and let the remover do its job. I do not pull or pop the nails off. A fresh manicure is much more enjoyable when I have taken care of the nails underneath.
Doonails is my favorite overall, and CurvLife glue is the product I keep coming back to for hold. But fit and everyday wear matter, too. After years of trying different sets, I still love choosing a new design and giving myself a fresh manicure at home.
Do you have a favorite press-on brand or a nail tip you swear by? I would love to hear about it!
