Dollar Tree Marie Claire Makeup: I Tried It for a Month—Here’s What’s Worth $1.25

f you know me, you know I love finding an affordable beauty product that actually works. There’s something especially satisfying about discovering a $1.25 product that earns a spot right alongside the more expensive makeup in my collection.

So when I spotted the Marie Claire makeup line at Dollar Tree, I knew I had to try it.

And I didn’t just put these products on once and call it a review. I used many of them regularly for about a month to really see how they performed with my everyday makeup routine.

At only $1.25 each, these products are also at such a good price point that even if you’re simply curious, you can pick one up and try it without making much of an investment. Not every product worked for me, but I definitely found a few surprises—and one product I liked so much that I already went back for a backup!

Marie Claire Natural Charm Makeup

This was easily one of my favorite products of the entire collection.

I used the Natural Charm palette almost every day for a month, and I genuinely loved it. The neutral colors are beautiful for everyday makeup, and they’re very buildable, so you can keep your look soft or add more pigment when you want it.

The highlighter was especially impressive. It is very pigmented and gives a beautiful highlight without requiring a ton of product.

The palette also includes a soft peach blush that I really enjoyed. It was buildable and looked great with my fair skin tone. It gave me just enough color without looking like I had gone overboard with blush.

I liked this palette so much that I have already gone back to Dollar Tree and bought another one as a backup.

For $1.25, this one is a definite YES from me.

Marie Claire Contour Stick

The contour stick was another pleasant surprise.

I really like the way it blends into my makeup. It’s easy to work with and creates a natural-looking contour on my fair skin without looking too dark or muddy.

However, there is one big drawback: the shade range.

The color I found is very light, and it appears to be the only option available. If you have fair skin, this may be a great inexpensive contour product to try. But if your skin tone is medium or deeper, I don’t think this shade would give you enough contrast to work as a contour.

I wish they offered more shades because the actual formula is really nice.

My verdict: GREAT FOR FAIR SKIN ★★★★☆

Marie Claire Felt-Tip Liner in Black

This was another winner.

The felt tip makes it really easy to get a precise line, and once it’s on, it stays put. I wore it throughout the day without having problems with fading or smudging.

I liked this eyeliner so much that I went back and bought it in brown too!

If you like felt-tip liners and want something inexpensive for everyday use, I definitely think this one is worth picking up.

Marie Claire Defining & Volumizing Mascara in Black

Unfortunately, the mascara wasn’t for me.

The formula is quite thin, and I didn’t find it very buildable. It also doesn’t have the fibers that I tend to like in mascaras.

I personally prefer a thicker, fuller lash look, so this didn’t give me the volume I wanted.

That doesn’t necessarily make it a bad mascara, though. If you’re someone who prefers a very natural, light mascara look, you may actually like this one much more than I did.

For me, though, it was a pass.

My verdict: SKIP—for me! ★★☆☆☆

Marie Claire Liquid Blush in Soft Pink

Now this one I really liked!

The Soft Pink liquid blush has a nice creamy consistency and is very easy to build. I could start with a small amount and add more until I had exactly the amount of color I wanted.

Most importantly, it stayed on throughout the day.

For $1.25, I think this is a really nice way to experiment with liquid or cream blushes, especially if you’ve wanted to try the trend but haven’t wanted to spend $20 or $30 on one.

Marie Claire Collagen-Infused Lip Plumper in Soft Pink

I really wanted to like this one, but it just wasn’t for me.

The lip plumper has a noticeable minty scent, and it’s collagen-infused, but after using it for about a week, I didn’t notice enough of a plumping effect to make me want to keep reaching for it.

For only $1.25, it might still be worth trying if you’re curious about it. Personally, though, I would spend my $1.25 on another product from the collection.

My verdict: SKIP ★★☆☆☆

Marie Claire Tinted Lip Oil

The lip oil was a completely different story.

I really liked this one.

One of my biggest complaints about lip products is when they feel sticky, and this one didn’t leave my lips feeling sticky at all. It gave me a pretty, soft tint and felt comfortable to wear.

I also started using it over some of my regular lipsticks, and I loved the way it looked.

This is an easy product to throw into your purse and use throughout the day, and for $1.25, I would absolutely buy it again.

My verdict: BUY IT! ★★★★★

Marie Claire Flawless Finish Setting Powder

The Flawless Finish Setting Powder fell somewhere in the middle for me.

It wasn’t bad—it just wasn’t quite enough for the way I wear my makeup.

I typically wear a full face of foundation and concealer, so I need a setting powder that can really set everything and keep it in place.

If you wear a skin tint, tinted moisturizer, or very light foundation, I think this powder could work much better for you. It just didn’t give me enough for my full-coverage routine.

My verdict: JUST OKAY ★★★☆☆

BONUS DOLLAR TREE FIND:
Kokie Setting Powder in Ivory

While I was trying all of these products, I also picked up the Kokie setting powder in Ivory at Dollar Tree.

And this one surprised me!

I really liked the way it set my makeup, especially with the fuller coverage foundation and concealer I normally wear. In fact, I think the Kokie powder is very comparable to some higher-end setting powders I’ve tried.

If you have a Dollar Tree that carries it and you happen to see it on the shelf, grab one. This was definitely one of my unexpected Dollar Tree beauty finds.

My verdict: DOLLAR TREE HIDDEN GEM! ★★★★★

So, Is Marie Claire Makeup at Dollar Tree Worth Trying?

Overall, yes!

Not every product was a winner for me, but that’s true of makeup at any price point. What makes this collection so fun is that the products are only $1.25 each.

At that price, you can grab an eyeliner, blush, palette, or lip product just to see if it works for you without feeling like you wasted a lot of money if it doesn’t.

My biggest winners were the Natural Charm palette, felt-tip liner, liquid blush, and tinted lip oil. And don’t forget to keep an eye out for that Kokie setting powder!

The Natural Charm palette was probably my biggest surprise of all. When a $1.25 makeup palette is good enough that I use it almost every day for a month and go back to buy a backup, I’d say Dollar Tree did pretty well!
