The Shift: What I’m learning about strength, energy, and change in midlife

I’ve started going to a personal trainer (Studio Strong)once a week, and if I’m honest, I thought that would be the hardest part.

It hasn’t been.

The harder part is everything around it — finding the time, managing the energy, and figuring out how this version of my body actually responds now.

Because what worked before doesn’t seem to work the same way anymore.

And I don’t think I’m the only one feeling that shift.

So instead of guessing my way through it, I wanted to understand what’s really happening for women in this stage of life — and what actually works now.

What’s Actually Changing in Midlife

  • metabolism shifts

  • muscle loss

  • recovery changes

  • hormones

This was the first moment I realized it wasn’t just me “falling off.” There are real changes happening — and they require a different approach.

Why It Feels Harder to Stay Consistent

  • time pressure

  • energy dips

  • mental load

It’s not just about motivation. It’s about everything we’re carrying alongside it

Join me as I continue to post my journey as well as the journey and influences of other women navigating the challenges of health in midlife. Looking at physical well being as well as mental well being in midlife.
